Club night, five boats, and a lot of shouting
Aug 04, 2026
The best argument for tracking a race is not the podium. It is the bar afterwards, with five people crowded round one phone insisting they were definitely ahead at the gybe mark.
Nobody has to organise anything
Club racing works because it is low friction. Anything that adds a briefing, a sign-up sheet or a box of hardware to unpack will quietly not happen twice.
The replay settles it
Half the fun is being wrong in public. The other half is the sailor who has been beaten by the same person for two seasons finally seeing exactly where it goes wrong.
It pulls people back
Sailors who can see their own progress turn up more often. That matters more to a club than any single result.
